02 – PROCESS AIR

Steam Air Heater

The line of steam air batteries, model AXA is used in industrial applications where you never compromise.

Industrial drying processes require high performances, high temperatures and compact units, achieved electrically or by means of a heat carrier like saturated steam, that correspond high temperatures and pressure.

The AXA models are dedicated to these tasks, and their design offers supreme reliability and low operation costs.

Possible heat sources for these are steam, thermal oil (heat transfer fluid – HTF), pressurised hot water and combinations of these.

There are many options available using the AXA process air heat exchangers.

Technical description

Design according to PED 2014/68/EU & EN-standards. CE-marked and with full documentation.

Heating of process air is very often done by a heating media such as saturated steam, heat transfer fluid (HTF) or by hot water. It can also be done electrically (resistances).  The heat exchangers used for heating is also called air batteries.

So the steam air batteries heat the process air (or gaseous fluids) by high temperature and high pressure saturated steam.

Likewise the thermal fluid air batteries heat the air by hot circulating thermal fluid (hot oil) up to 300°C at atmospheric pressure where the heating is provided by a so-called thermal fluid system.

Electrical air batteries heat the air electrically i.e. using heating elements using electrical resistans.

Water-based air batteries are available both as heaters using hot water, and as coolers using cold water, glycol or a refrigerant.

The coolers are also available in a special dehumidifier design for drying of process air.

Options are extractable sections for easy pull-out, or with flanged duct connections, gas-tight housing, reinforcements, adjustable legs and also instrumentation / armatures.

Steam and thermal fluid heating requires a special design of the process air heat exchangers. Here the compound finned tubes a very often used with a design temperature of 300°C. For low temperature applications other more economical design can be chosen.
